My Fall Reading List | Barnes & Noble Haul

Today I'm sharing a Barnes & Noble Haul, what's on my Fall reading list this year, and my Fall reading playlist!

The Fall Season is Upon Us

What's on My Fall Reading List & My Recent Barnes & Noble Haul

With cozy sweaters, spiced candles, and falling leaves comes what I call reading season. Of course, every season is reading season for me...BUT something about curling up in an oversized wingback chair under a cozy blanket just hits different, you know? This year I'm EXTRA excited because the new farmhouse fixer-upper I just bought (more to come on that!) has a GORGEOUS fireplace and I can't wait to take full advantage of it. The weather is still in the 90s here, but I'm already gearing up by putting together my fall reading list and I'm sharing it with you. I also miiiiight have gone a tad crazy at Barnes & Noble recently, and I'll share that haul first.

Book #1
I Am My Brand by Kubi Springer

I have read books, taken courses, scoured over blog posts, filled out worksheets ALL THE THINGS when it comes to branding. YET to this day it is the one business topic that will get me in a fowl mood the majority of the time. At least with my own brand and businesses anyways! Unfortunately in the business world I feel like "niche" and "branding" became a little to closely tied. The thing is, we can't "niche" a human being! We are all so multi-faceted and multi-dimensional! While we may want to buy a product that solves a problem for a particular niche, we don't want to buy it from a PERSON whose entire being can be summed up exclusively in that one niche. Think of it this way, do you like to read books about basic, undeveloped, one dimensional characters who are obsessed with only one thing? Not unless it's a horror novel! Same with people. Of course, this makes branding much more complicated than just "picking a niche." That is why I am so excited to dig into this book!

"Kubi Springer has worked with some of the biggest brands in the world including Nike, L'Oreal, Blackberry, MTV, Justin Timberlake, Rolls Royce Motor Cars and Aston Martin. In I Am My Brand, she lays out a toolkit for personal brand success. Featuring dynamic female brand builders from around the world, the book is a woven tapestry of personal brand advice with storytelling and support that offers a practical guide for female entrepreneurs, freelancers and executives."

"Whatever your specific desire may be, we all carry the burden of unfulfilled longings. We all feel the burden and the void of dreams yet to come true."

- T.D. Jakes

Book #2
When Women Pray by T. D. Jakes

I have so enjoyed reading this book! The author has a way of making these incredible biblical women become REAL and women who I can identify with! I feel their pain and struggles that lead them into prayer as I read it. There are a few moments where the author will drift off into tangents, and there are a lot of mentions of events specific to 2020 that might cause confusion for future readers, however I still feel that it will be a timeless read to keep on the shelf! Women who pray has definitely been soul food. It has comforted me in a time of concern and pain. I hope to reread its lessons in the future as I remember to fight in prayer!

đź’— PAIRS WELL WITH đź’—
Movie: The War Room | Treat: Hot Chocolate | Music: I Still Believe soundtrack |Additional Reading: Fervent by Priscilla Shirer

In a time when women carry more influence than any other generation, the power of prayer has never been more important to remind us that we do not have to bear our crosses alone. We need prayer to stand guard over our hearts and minds and over the hearts and minds of our families. Through exploring the lives of 10 prayer-filled women of the Bible, Bishop Jakes emphasizes the life-changing power that women have when they find their identity, their strength, their healing, and their voices in Christ.

Book #3
Indivisible by Travis Thrasher with Darren & Heather Turner

I read Indivisible cuddled up under a pile of soft white quilts, a record playing “September in the Rain” spinning slowly in the background. My fur baby was curled up snoozing in exactly THE middle of my favorite pillow, and I had this book in my lap. I’ve been DYING to see this movie for the longest time, I remember following the official page as it was being filmed and watching every trailer and behind the scenes video that came out! When I saw this at Barnes & Noble I immediately put it in my “to purchase” pile.

“Based on the screen play by David Evans, Indivisible is a tribute to the beauty of serving our country, the courage of choosing love in the darkness, and the power of a God who never gives up hope.”

The message of this movie and book is one that has always been close to my heart. Books like these are very emotional reads for me, but are soul food through and through. Especially as the world seems so perilous right now, and it seems like fear and darkness reigns…remembering the courage of those who serve, those who WITNESS with their work and their lives of what STILL remains to love about our country, brings me comfort and peace on nights like these.

This year I'll be doing my reading with my favorite tea, in my Farmhouse Book Co. Farm Life mugs! You can check out the collection here.

Book #4
Mastering Pasta by Marc Vetri

I absolutely ADORE this book! I sat in the bookstore for FOREVER pouring over a massive stack of pasta and Italian cookbooks. This book won out hands DOWN above all of them! I love how it is organized, the photography is gorgeous, the recipes are authentic and creative. I also really really enjoyed the rabbit recipes! Award-winning chef Marc Vetri wanted to write his first book about pasta. Instead, he wrote two other acclaimed cookbooks and continued researching pasta for ten more years. Bonus Book on My Reading List this Fall
Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery

I think Anne Shirley would agree that there is something so romantic and idyllic about fall. And of course she IS quoted as saying "I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers." This year I'm going to curl up next the the fireplace with my Farmhouse Book Co. edition of Anne's story. What I love about our edition (and yes I KNOW I am totally biased! haha) are all of the annotations that bring you into the era and life of Anne. From 1800s sewing patterns to authentic Victorian recipes and more, I love feeling like I'm a part of Anne's world! You can click here to view them on our Amazon store, or click on the image below.
